Arts and Crafts Centre

FUGLAFJØRÐUR is a great place to experience an authentic Faroese town. It is a community of 1500 people with a strong sense of unity and identity.
The town boasts a thriving industry, retail, sports, a modern culture house and a vibrant art scene - plenty to experience in and around this charming town in beautiful natural settings.

Ribarhús was founded in 1887 as a grocery store. Today it is managed by the local Arts and Crafts Society. The original shelves now display an array of products, all locally sourced and sold by the manufacturers themselves. You can buy handcrafted woollen garments, homemade souvenirs, cards and jewellery, as well as books and CDs. You can also purchase homemade cookies and coffee and tea.

The store’s old warehouse has been rearranged as an art gallery. Every third week a new exhibition is arranged, usually by local artists. In the old boathouse on the ground floor traditional Faroese fishing boats are on permanent display.

Like Fuglafjørður itself Ribarhús is vibrant and versatile. The centre hosts concerts, lectures, and evening classes in various fields.
Come and enjoy this charming and energetic Arts and Crafts Centre in the middle of Fuglafjørður.
